This year we are back and bigger than last year! With all new competitions, vendors, sponsors, and educators! Below are each of the battles taking place at the Motorcity Barber Expo, along with their prices. Please note, that your models will be free and if you do not have a model one will be appointed to you.
Student battle- $50 to participate
Must be 18 and up, students only!
Students will have 40 minutes to compete haircuts of their choice. Anything goes! Color enhancements are allowed.
Judging for the competition;
-Overall look and presentation of the haircut
-Creativity
-Speed
-Sanitation
-Professionalism
Note- models get in free with the competition purchase but can not have hair pre-cut or the model will be removed. If you do not have a model, one will be appointed to you.
Tag Team- $100, $50 per barber
Partners will have 50 minutes to complete the hair cut of their choice. Anything goes! Judges will be scoring as a team.

Barber Elimination Tournament-$150
This is the ULTIMATE throw down! As a barber you should be able to cut anyone that sits in your chair and this will be the test! There will be 3 rounds of competition with each round the categories will be chosen randomly by a spinning wheel. The wheel will have each category and set times on it. Each round is on a point system and will go as followed:
1st round top 6 barbers will advance to the 2nd round. The top 3 barbers in the 2nd round will advance to the final round. The winner of the final round will receive a championship belt, $1,000 cash prize, and sponsorship from Barbers League. Anything goes!
Categories:
Fastest fade: 15 minutes
Freestyle design: 50 minutes
Taper: 35 minutes
Fade and texture top: 40 minutes
Faded beard: 30 minutes
Burst fade: 40 minutes
Low fade and styled: 40 minutes
Mid fade and styled: 40 minutes
Traditional: 40 minutes
Judging will be based on:
-Overall look and presentation of the haircut
-creativity
-adjusting under pressure
-speed
-sanitation
-professionalism
Please note: 3 models get in free with purchase of competition ticket but cannot have hair pre-cut already or the model will be removed. If you do not have a model, one can be appointed to you. Models are also to be aware, they may be asked to switch chairs with another professional barber and be prepared for all of the above listed categories.
